Click on a website, any website, and you will without question more than likely see some type of ad staring at you that reads “Make $847 a day working from home.” Or maybe you have seen one that goes more like “Earn $3000-$5000 a week making money online from the comfort of your own home.” What a dream this would be if we all really could stay home and earn that amount money. Has anyone thought about the reality of the long term effects if millions more people were actually to venture into online marketing to make their share of their profits? What would happen to many nations? And the economy? Would there still be pizza delivery boys or would they be making there millions in online marketing as well? Guess all of us “oldies” will have to learn how to cook our own pizza in the future, because the maids we had, well they will be on their computers too. After all, why would they want to work for you when they can work for themselves and earn so much more?

We all want to be wealthy and live the “good” life, but sometimes it may just be best to just settle for being successful instead of filthy rich. Besides, I am already rich. I have family and friends and that kind of love makes a person the richest they can be. I know from experience that money does not make one happy, love does. And of course the first reaction is that everyone loves money. The only problem is, it does not love you back.

I wanted to generated some extra income for myself and my two children after I lost my job due to a back injury. I am a 37 year old widowed mother with two children. When I lost my husband, I lost my world. Due to the amount of stress caused from this unfortunate life changing event, I was forced to take leave from my job, which eventually led to my employer not allowing me to return because I do have an injury that has been ongoing for years. Not knowing what I was going to do and at risk of losing everything I had worked so hard for, I ventured into online marketing.

At first, I poured money into an E-commerce store. I thought this was cool because I found so many products I could sell. But the costs became too much and I had no sells in three months, so I shut down the site. I also did not know any HTML and everything was like a different language to me. Next, I started into the data entry world. I signed on with one of the data entry sites and learned about affiliate marketing and blogging. Once again, having no experience with web pages or HTML was a problem because I wanted to do more with my blogs than I was capable. I spent many hours teaching myself, searching the web and reading articles on how to do this and how to do that. Everywhere you turn in affiliate marketing,it suggests that you have your own website to generate the most income. So, of course, I had to get me one of those! But I first wanted a free one, which is a sub-domain that you can usually get free at many ISP’s and websites. Knowledge is the key to success in this business. My first month in the data entry part, I only earned about $50. But I will also say that I wasn’t putting alot of time and effort into it because I have other personal business to tend to. Time and money are the two most important parts of truly becoming successful in online marketing. Sure, you pay $40 to sign on with company, but you will find that you will eventually need to find a way to get your blogs out there through advertising. Many sites will submit articles free, but some of the best exposure comes from the paid ones. Also you will come to realize that online forums are essential in the business and that was one of my downfalls that got me off to a slow start. Having the time and mentality to sit down long enough to chat with others and post messages in forums was a challenge.

There is no such thing as get rich quick in online marketing. That only happens to people that play the lottery and win. It is a struggle and it is actually work, no matter how many ads you see that say “make quick,easy money,” you still have to be somewhat knowledgeable of the internet to be able to start generating income pretty fast. My blogs have started doing well and started generating income. It is something I have to work on everyday. I am working on new blogs all the time and adding to the ones I already have. One mistake I did make early on was trying to get involved in too many things at one time. Staying focused is a must.
