It’s a provocative title that gets your attention. There is a short documentary touting the claim to know the secret to untold riches and a fabulous life. Is it really mystical and only for the esoteric? There is a catch. You have to spend money to discover the secret to having money. What are the end results?

Having more knowledge to put into you bag of tricks, while the seller is the one growing rich. The sale of this movie is a good example of a merging trend called viral marketing. If you want to find out more about it (virology) all you have to do is Google it. Businesses do it all the time. Main media is losing millions to viral marketing with predictions of this growing. But the makers of The Secret are real! you say. Having done TV and radio production and understanding how a filmmaker manipulates the viewer’s perception, I saw the trailer and they adroitly packaged a very effective sticky pitch. Something like the mass marketing phenomenon caused by the book, The Davinci Code.

So are the promises the film makes real or just another marketing ploy? Are we, the human species ready, for this ancient hidden secret that all great legendary mortals had? And if these select few had this secret, why is now the time to reveal it to the masses? The answer is as simple and as complex as you want it to be. If you answer yes, the basic premise is whatever you want you must desire it totally and unconditionally. No cell in your being is allowed to doubt you can have it all. You must be specific for the universe to align to your wish. Only then can you become a co-creator with God.

The producers of the documentary imply that you don’t even have to tell the cosmos how you will do it. By just having faith, “it”, whatever it may be, knows best for you. Another claim is what you can visualize as already having, you can manifest. Name it and claim it. This provides a pure and simple solution to your problem. I asked one of my clients a self made millionaire his advice for creating wealth. His answer was know what you really want. Develop total consuming congruency in the pursuit of your goal. Wild horses should not be able to hold you back from whatever it is you seek. In doing this, it seems like it is only a matter of time before you get what you want. Is this destiny manifesting itself or you manifesting your destiny? Single minded purpose can produce spectacular results.

Now what happens if you answer no to the question, is humanity ready? Before you think I’m just raining on people’s dreams, let’s be realistic. My unscientific guess is that less than 10% who have watched this film will actually go out and do it (take action). It is based on the premise that history repeats itself. The majority of people do not change profoundly. The attainment of riches and a fantastic life is a journey, not a destination. You already have many riches you may be taking for granted. The key is increasing a network of people that have the desire and the resources to help you.

People often find this so difficult due to past programming. That “same old routine” evidenced in automatic thoughts, feelings, and actions, keep people repeating patterns and strategies that are ineffective. There are some marketers pitching a “how to” step- by-step plan to execute “the secret”. My advice to you considering this purchase is to be pragmatic! The secret is no secret at all. It is merely a reminder for you to pay attention to your thoughts and feelings. If they are toxic or negative find a more affordable remedy to end them. After you do this decide what you are truly passionate about and work diligently to attain it.
