A basic challenge of successful marketing is finding your target audience or market niche. For some marketers, identifying their target audience is relatively easy. This is because they have identified a specific interest or developed a product or service that directly relates to known problems or issues of a certain public audience. They can then immediately identify that audience as their niche or target market.

  • search subject articles - Articles will lead you to other websites (and thus communities) focused on your topic. Just search under your keyword topic with any major search engine, and you’ll find a number of articles about that topic.

  • visit blogs - While information found on blogs may be skewed by opinion, the information contained in discussion through its comment section (assuming it has one) may yield information as important, and sometimes more so, than the post itself. In addition, blogs by their very nature, usually offer topical information and discussion that is most current and up-to-date.

Once you have identified your particular interest group, you determine their needs and desires relative to your topic, then develop, choose and promote all of your products and services based on the information you’ve gathered.
