One of the best things an aspiring Internet marketer can do is spend some time starting an eBay business. My first taste of online marketing came with my eBay business. My wife and I spent about a year going full steam ahead with an ebay business we started several years ago.

Starting an eBay business was a great way for us to gain some very basic Internet marketing skills. Our business taught us about keywords, ad copy, shipping issues, customer service issues, and inventory. All of these skills later applied to our real Internet business when we started building our web businesses.

It would have proved much more difficult for us in the early stages of our Internet businesses had we not already had these basic skill learned from eBay. Looking back, I wish we would have spent more time on the Internet side of things earlier. I suggest to my clients who are just starting out with Internet marketing not to focus entirely on eBay.

A common question people ask me is, What can I sell on eBay? At first, simply start selling your junk out of your closets, garage, etc. It doesnt matter, people will buy it. Used clothing is a popular item. We, in fact, made an entire eBay business out of selling vintage clothing. We simply went to estate sales and purchased vintage clothing and resold it on eBay. Youd be amazed what collectors pay for 1970s double knit suits!

To get started with an eBay business, you will need an eBay account and a PayPal business account. Be sure to go through the process of verifying both accounts as soon as possible. You must have at least 10 feedbacks before you can verify the eBay account. Verified users enjoy an eBay verified and PayPal Verified status which helps sales.

Have fun and get busy with starting an eBay business!
