In this world I have always wondered why so few people are great and the rest of us are mediocre. You know living pay check to pay check poor or middle class working for the men. I have always been curious about why some people are stupendously successful and everyone else is average. Well theres a reason alright its called a different way of thinking and doing things.

I have read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill which is an absolute classic and he spent 25 years of his life studying really successful people trying to figure out the same thing. He realized that the successful all acted in similar ways. They all thought in a certain way which was different from the average person. I can not even begin to explain the book because that could take days but there are some recurring characteristics that he does mention which all successful people have.

They have desire and by desire I am not talking about you know the vague desire we all have to be rich which we push aside. I mean an obsession they are so obsessed with their desire. What they want to accomplish is constantly in their mind they live it they breathe it they feel. Its always there following them along day by day. Thats how they are able to go through any obstacle thats thrown at them.

The above leads up to another trait which is focus. They are absolutely focused on their goals they do not waste their time working in jobs they hate because they want security they stop anything else and focus on that dream till they accomplish it. They burn all their bridges and by this I mean they do not have safety nets in place so that if they fail then its ok they can always go back to their job or something like that. Nothing else takes their time from getting where they want to go. I was one of those people wanting to give up just a little of my time but holding on to security by working in a job I didnt love and spending more than three quarters of my time not working towards my goal. I decided one day enough with the half hearted effort and resigned my job and I am now putting full time into my dream and I am not looking back. Theres no half way if you want to be great.

Persistence I can’t emphasize this more. They never give up ever. Obstacles come in their way they jump over them. Temporary defeat comes in their way they learn from it and move forward better and wiser. They do not even have the words failure and defeat in their dictionary.

They are constant learners. They realize that education does not stop when you finish formal education. They realize that learning will never really stop and they invest their time and money investing in themselves in their education. They know that the more they know and act on the better they will be. They are open minded to knew ideas and constantly pursue them.

They are decisive they make decisions quickly and usually do not have to consult others to make that decision because they believe in their own judgment. This is not to say they do not consult people or ask for advice. Its just that they ultimately use their own intuition and stick with it. They do not wait for a situation to be perfect they make a decision and fix any problems later. Which means they are the opposite of procrastinators which is what most humans are.

They have absolute faith in themselves. They never doubt they will be successful. To them its a given something inevitable. This strong belief spirals their success so high because they do not limit what they can achieve and because of that they achieve big.

They know exactly what they want and they go for it. They are definite about their end result. This makes it easier to lay down a plan of action because its very clear the direction they are going.

A combination of these traits makes a great person. This is only part of the list of traits which the truly successful have but its a list of the most important traits needed for great success. If they can do it so can you the only thing standing in your way is yourself.
