Creating momentum with a new product is sometimes a difficult thing to do, but it is crucial to success. Creating momentum for your product is really about trust and credibility. For me, that goes back to the idea of testimonials.

There are two types of testimonials. There are testimonials from experts and there are testimonials from other people just like me. Ideally, you want to have testimonials from both types of people.

How do you get a testimonial from an expert? In order to get a testimonial from an expert, call or email them and say: I have this new product. I would very much like it if I could get a testimonial from you. As a thank you Id like to send you a preview copy of the product. Id really like to hear your thoughts about the product and any ways you think I can improve it. Would you please take a look at it and send me a testimonial?

Perhaps this sounds impossible, but youd be surprised at how many people will be willing to do that for you, in addition to giving you some great feedback about how you can improve your product. By the way, if you include the comment asking what you can improve, most people will be much more receptive.

Now, how do you get testimonials from real users? First, its very important that all your testimonials are 100% real. Having said that, its not necessary to disclose who these people are in relation to you.

In other words, its ok for you to ask for testimonials from other people that you already know in the industry. They could even be friends of yours. When asking real users for a testimonial, say something like, I have this brand new product and I would like to get a testimonial from you. As a thank you, Id like to send a free sample to you, (or Ill sell it to you for this promotional price of $10) in exchange for a testimonial.

Simply put, the fastest and best way to create momentum for a product is to get testimonials. Testimonials quickly build trust and credibility in your product. You can easily get an expert or real user to send testimonials by offering promotional copies of the product in exchange for their testimonial.
