As a retired entrepreneur it is somewhat fun to study entrepreneurial business plans and what types of things that they are thinking. Luckily having participated in so many different industries in my last entrepreneurial effort, I find folks contacting me all the time from those industries. Recently, I have been studying the home carwashing kit market and find there are only a couple of players in that market.

There is the big corporation selling their Mr. Clean Brand in large retailers like K-Mart/Sears or Wal-Mart and there is the Mom and Pop Shop online Internet Entrepreneur with a comparable offering. Now then besides you and I, who else would be interested in having a home car wash kit in their garage? Well let’s look at who might like such a product;

  • Middle Class Female Single
  • Lower Class Male living at home
  • Middle Class Male Single or Married
  • Special Emphasis on Environmentally conscious consumers

Well wouldn’t that be almost 50% of our population or more. What sorts of attributes of such a product would American consumers who love their car and feel it an extension of their personality most likely want to see? What would make them want to buy and own such a product? Well here are some thoughts on such things;

  • Low-Cost
  • Simple
  • Water Conservation (shutoff nozzle helps municipal rules)
  • Able to clean without water spots on larger Mini-vans, SUVs and dark colored cars
  • Fast Delivery
  • Gift Market - Birthday Christmas

Of course if such a product was sold online then you would indeed need very good Search Engine Placement, Internet Ads, strong web traffic, testimonials and better targeting, I suppose. Everyone knows that running a small business against the big guys is not easy, but it is possible to win, if you are smart in your marketing. Perhaps you might consider such things for your online marketing no matter what industry you are in during 2007.
