Writing clear informative articles is a well known and underused method of marketing your website. It can also work for direct marketing from the article.

I am known for my off the cuff marketing techniques. If a colleague says she has very little work I normally come up with a gem of an idea. It goes along the lines of Why dont you write an article? One of my colleagues got so fed up with this constant reply she did. The result was a $2000 contract direct from the first article.

She is now writing articles on a regular basis, getting work in on a regular basis and so grateful that she gave me a testimonial but better than that she is now a expert writer for Ezine@rticles (R).

To me this is not shameless advertising, this is explaining what you do and how you do it in a simple and well written way. If your work depends on something being completed correctly, what better than to write an article. A search by client who is lost in the technicalities, finding an article which explains what they do and how they do it in plain English will probably get you that client as they know you have the knowledge.

Good Content Article Writing

There are so many articles on writing articles that a quick search will bring you advice and further information. It is what you put in your articles that is most important. Let us take the home typist. They just sit there all day and type err no! Most home secretaries or Virtual Assistants do digital dictation. This is a minefield not just for the experienced transcriptionist but for the client.

What is the best way to dictate or record a group session, what is the time it will take to transcribe one hours dictation, what if the recording is bad, what if they are using a non-standard method of recording video tapes are not unusual… The what ifs go on and on. Now I know that there is an article that details as many solutions as possible for the client, what do you think the clients response will be to the writer. They will be regarded as an expert and probably get the work.

Look in your outbox. What is the question that most clients ask or the problem that you have to solve. You will probably find more than one but one will probably stick out like a sore thumb. Write your first article on this because if some of your clients have this problem, so do many others who could well become your clients.

Write to help and advise

Writing with the aim of helping and educating your client and future client base will increase your visibility and creditability. Explain that the problems they are having are not unusual and can be solved by an experienced user of the product or skill. Most importantly, ensure that you only write what you really know about. I cannot claim that you will make $2000 from any one article, or anything at all, but if you dont do this you will never know.
